Should we stop exploring?

Since the beginning of the scientific method, we have been exploring, observing and analyzing our environment and our universe. It has helped us make great discoveries that are simplifying our life, making us live longer and be more productive.

Can we keep on doing it without any consequences? In a recent story, some scientists are telling us that because we observed dark energy, we might have started a process in which our universe will fall on itself.

In short, we may have snatched away the possibility of long-term survival for our universe and made it more likely it will decay.

That is quite amazing. Are we that powerful? It reminds me of another story about the new particle accelerators that could create black holes and in terms would eat up the earth. It does not quite match with reality.

Let’s hope for the best.
